Thomas Edison is Trash
We all know of good ol’ Thomas Edison. The genius who invented the lightbulb, supposedly of course. But he was not the only person who was working towards the creation of incandescent lightbulbs. There were two others, Humphrey Davy and Joseph Swank were said to had invented the lightbulb before Edison even lost a legal case to the pairing for the patent for the light bulb. So why do we realize Edison as the father of light? It seems to be nothing more than the power of word of mouth at the time. Edison had money, power and influence. It was most likely no problem for him to overturn the word of a small time group of inventors. They had nothing to combat his massive influence over the community of science and philosophy. And just as those with influence in our time, despite whether legally proven wrong or not they still have such a following that proof and evidence means close to nothing to the masses.
